Find and replace text over thousands of files with this simple Perl script. The script will recurse through directories and subdirectories, updating every file by finding and replacing text you specify. It is easy to change all the copyright dates at the bottom of your pages, for example.

This can split a file _in place_, which means: if you have a 700 MB movie, and you want to split it up to 15 MB pieces, then you only need a bit more than 15 MB free space (let's say 16 MB) to use this program. By the end the original file will be gone, only the pieces will stay. The output will be completely identic with the output of the Unix split, the only difference is the name of the extension (.001, .002, ...) and by the end of the procedure the original file is

FleXchange is a Perl script to recursively change permissions (and owning) of a file system's sub-tree.
